As writers, it is often we visit multiple social medias through everyday to try and build our audience. Many of us frequent Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, Twitter, Reddit, and many more. Some of these experiences produce positive experiences while some may produce negative experiences.
What sites or applications do you visit most often?
I, personally, frequent Facebook the most. I have both my regular Facebook page and my author Facebook page - which currently sits at about 826 likes/followers. Facebook is a place where you can keep in contact with your family and friends no matter where they are located. You can see text posts, photo posts, and even video posts. Some other sites I frequent daily are Spotify, my college site; SNHU, Google, and Youtube. I mean, what is life without music, right?
Do you have a positive or negative reaction(s) when using certain types of digital media?
Honestly, to me, I feel that a positive or negative reaction to certain types of digital media depends on the time of day and the kind of mood both I and the person posting the digital media are in. If I am having a bad day, the negative posts might stand out to me more than if I were in a good mood and noticing all of the positive posts. For me, it all depends on what I can relate to at the time. Both my negative and positive reactions seem to be perfectly balanced. Though, I am more positive than negative in nature.
Do you find that your needs are satisfied using one type of digital media over another?
I feel each digital media holds its own purpose. Facebook gives you the maximum outlet for multiple different types of digital media, which makes it successful in satisfying its users. For me, Facebook is more satiable than Instagram because it is easier to share things you like or relate to instead of having to upload them on your own, whether you add a caption or tags or not.
Do you receive emails from companies? If so, what types of email catch your attention? What do you look for?
I do receive emails from companies, but they are usually just trying to sell me things; junk mail in my mind. The types of emails that draw me in are ones that are trying to build my knowledge on a company and its products. I want a company more worried about gaining the interest of their customers rather than gaining the money they want those customers to spend.
What do you notice about the use of digital media in marketing today?
A big thing I have noticed about the use of digital media in marketing today is that many companies and brands are bringing themselves into the social game. Meaning, they are posting more and more each day on social media sites to try and gain more range for their audience and potential customer pool. I feel this helps a company build better relationships with their customers because it gives them a chance to engage.
